True Productivity + Doing What Matters

True Productivity?

Crystal Paine of Money Saving Mom posted this recently about true productivity + doing what matters. Here’s what she shared:

I’m learning that I’m actually *more* productive when I do less. Instead of feeling overwhelmed and stretched too thin, it means I’m able to give my best to a few things and do them really well. Plus, I’m able to enjoy the process and be fully present!

Lately, I’ve been chewing on this and other very similar thoughts. What is true productivity?

Getting Stuff Done?

Recently, I’ve become more aware of who I am (instead of who others want me to be). I’m understanding more of how big my “plate” is (a la Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory’s podcast episode I need to search for to link here). And I’m more confident in my own strengths AND weaknesses. This has better helped me in processing what I should say “yes” or “no” to.

There are so many good things out there but if I say “yes” to them all, I’ll never do any of them well. In the past, I spread myself too thin and got burnt out. I will probably be angry at all the people around me and trust me, no one wants to see that. My kiddos will tell you…or perhaps they have already stuffed that horrible memory away only to be shared in counseling one day. Haha…just kidding…

(Side note: I know we tend to make light of counseling, but I truly think it has its place and something people should go to if they are able. Perhaps, this is another topic for another day…)

Of course, I’d love to make an impact wherever I am. Truthfully, I can’t do that if I’m doing a million things…and doing none of them well. Am I simply getting stuff done or am I doing what matters?

Doing What Matters

I LOVE this podcast episode Heather of God Centered Mom did with Christy Wright of Business Boutique >>> Manage Your Life with Guilt-Free Confidence. Here’s my tweet about that:

Oh my heart, there are so many good things we can do – world/life-changing things, but what is does God have for me at this time in my life?

What are your thoughts on productivity? How do you decide what to say “yes” or “no” to when given an opportunity or invitation?
